  Who are the NOCN Qualifications aimed at?
  
  They are particularly targeted at post 14 learners:
  
  • To engage and motivate learners to identify their individual and personal strengths for progression to post 16 study or employment.
  • To provide stimulating learning opportunities that engage and enable learners develop their literacy, financial literacy and numeracy skills.
     The framework offers more freedom, choice and flexibility. In addition learners will be able to:
  • Choose and combine smaller bite sized chunks of learning (units), build up achievements (credits) at their own pace and in different learning    contexts.
  • Transfer credits between qualifications to avoid duplication and have all achievements recorded centrally on an electronic record that will remain    with them throughout their learning.
  
  What is the structure of the Level 1 Award in Preparation for Life and Work?
  
  In order to gain a qualification the learner must achieve 6 credits (54 guided learning hours). The 6 credits can be taken from a combination of any units across course groups. Currently units can be chosen from the following 4 available courses:
  
  • Assured Life ~ Developing Personal Learning Skills
  • Assured Life ~ Assertion and Personal Development Skills
  • Assured Life ~ Integrated Life Skills Course
  • Assured Life ~ Business Communication and Customer Service Skills
